This is standard with all s/w vendors from The Great God Bill all the way down. Who does actually 'own' the software that Happeeman claims to have bought? As far as I can see, what he has purchased is not the software itself, but simply a licence (i.e. Just a thought about all the self-righteous indignation floating around. I'm entitled to my opinion that the real reason you started this thread was to try to find a way to make unauthorized copies of the software. To keep your blood pressure under control, I'd suggest you use some other brand of software in the future. You're entitled to your righteous indignation over GE Fanuc's policies.
If I decided to authorize it on my computer first, when I went for an authorization code for you, they'd say "sorry, that serial number is already registered to Steve Bailey".Īt any rate, it looks like we'll just have to agree to disagree. If I were to use the same serial number to generate a site code for my computer, when I called it in to get an authorization code, GE Fanuc would say "sorry, that serial number is already registered to Happeeman". The corresponding authorization code would only work on your computer. If you're philosophically opposed to paying for software, then patronize the companies that give it away.īTW, there would be nothing illegal about you sending me the serial number and site code. Do you object to that 'additional expenditure'?
You have to spend time reading the manual in order to properly use the software.
In fact the only additional 'expenditure' is that you have to spend a few minutes of your time on the authorization process. Happeeman, you imply that once you've purchased the software, you still have to spend more money. I dont think that another Authorization code will work.Īs distastefull as it may seem to you, it seems that you have no choice but to call the toll free number, or shoot them an email. It is my belief that the CD has a unique code that will require the proper Authorization Code. The code I got is a 16 digit alpha-numeric code broken down into 4 - 4 digit strings. Once you get the Authorization Code write it down on this document for future reference.
There are 4 simple steps written on this document that tells you how to obtain the Authorization Code, by using one of four options, web, phone, fax or email. The Serial number & Password will give you access to the Authriization code from GE. On the top line of the document you will find the serial number. in the lower left hand corner of this document there shoud be a number GFJ-1003. With the package that contained CME there should be a document titled "Software License Key". You seem a little defensive? The fact of the matter remains that you have spent more time and expense posting to this thread than you would have calling GE.
